Ouzo Cafe Catering is a family-owned and operated business rooted in the authentic flavors and traditions of Greece. For almost 20 years, our family proudly served the Milwaukee community at Ouzo Cafe restaurant Downtown. We enjoyed welcoming in our beloved customers, and making them feel like part of our family as we shared the recipes passed down through generations of our ancestors.
At Ouzo Cafe Catering, we're now bringing those same authentic recipes right to the client. We bring a taste of Greece to weddings, graduation parties, corporate lunches, and all of life's other milestones.
Our menus are inspired by the dishes that made Ouzo Cafe a local favorite. Every item is prepared with care, using high-quality ingredients and decades of perfected cooking methods to deliver the authentic flavors of Greece to your table.
CELEBRATE WITH THE TRADITION OF OUZO.
Ouzo has its roots in tsipouro, which is said to have been the pet project of a group of 14th-century monks living in a monastery on Mount Athos. One version of it was flavored with anise. This version eventually came to be called ouzo. Its strong flavor resembles black licorice.
In modern Greece, ouzeries can be found in nearly all cities, towns, and villages. These cafe-like establishments serve ouzo with mezedes — appetizers such as octopus, salad, sardines, calamari, fried zucchini, feta cheese, and clams, among others. It is traditionally slowly sipped (usually mixed with water or ice) together with mezedes shared with others over a period of several hours in the early evening.
Ouzo is more than a drink. It is a long-standing tradition as the starter of intimate gatherings of friends or a family meal.
